The 82-year-old woman who was driving a car that struck two pedestrians on Sunday remains in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital.
The other two victims, women aged 72 and 48, are also in a serious condition.
The 82-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Vitz in Brockville Rd, near Ettrick St, about 4.20pm on Sunday when it smashed into a VW Beetle parked at the roadside.
The other two women were getting into the vehicle at the time.
The Toyota ended up on its side.
Inspector Tania Baron, of Dunedin, said one of the women remained in the hospital's high dependency unit. The other two were out of intensive care and stable.
Police had been unable to interview the victims due to the seriousness of their injuries, so it was too early to say whether charges would be laid.
‘‘It appears the elderly driver has lost control and has hit the other vehicle while the two other ladies were getting into it,'' Insp Baron said.
The serious crash unit was investigating.
