Crews called to second fire in Musselburgh street

Dunedin fire crews are battling another blaze in the roof of a Musselburgh house - just hours after a similar fire in the same street.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said four fire crews - from Lookout Point, Dunedin, St Kilda, and Roslyn - were called to Belmont Lane at 12.47pm today.

They were working to extinguish a fire in the roof of a two-storey property.

Firefighters were notified of the second blaze by a tradie who was examining damage caused by an earlier roof fire in the street, the spokesman said.

Two crews, from Dunedin and St Kilda, were called to that incident at 9.22am.

That fire was believed to have been started by electrical wires that shorted. However, a fire investigator had been requested.
