Cash, cigarettes taken in armed robbery

An alleged armed robbery took place at the Z petrol station on Kaikorai Valley Rd in Dunedin last night.

A police spokesman said two men entered the store about 9.45pm demanding money and cigarettes.

One of the men presented a firearm at the attendant.

"The men then left with a quantity of cash and cigarettes."

While the victim was not injured, they were very shaken and were receiving support, the police spokesman said.

Inquiries were ongoing and anyone with information was encouraged to call 105.
