Man allegedly wielded shotgun in Dunedin home invasion

A Dunedin man appeared in court this morning after he allegedly burgled a home armed with a shotgun last night.

Vincent Praire Mahara, a 29-year-old freezer worker, was charged with aggravated burglary before the Dunedin District Court this morning.

Police allege Mahara entered a property on Blacks Rd, Opoho, with a gun at about 7.20pm.

Police say he threatened the occupants but no-one was harmed.

He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody by consent until July 25.

Mahara did not apply for name suppression.
