A big crowd turned out to watch more than 80 floats and a white-bearded man dressed in a red suit travel down George St for the annual Santa Parade.

Dunedin Santa Parade Trust chairman Mark Laughton said many businesses contributed their products, services and money to the event held on Sunday afternoon.

After the parade, a family-friendly concert was being held in the Octagon.

Mr Laughton said the trust's committee spent a year raising money, which went towards rent, float maintenance, street closure and security.
