Cyclist seeks witnesses to road incident

A cyclist  injured in an alleged road rage incident is asking witnesses to contact Dunedin police.

The rider, who asked to remain anonymous, said he was cycling home about 4.15pm last Thursday in St Andrew St, towards Anzac Ave, when a black utility vehicle began travelling close beside him.

"So I gave him a tap on the side,'' the rider said.

In response, the driver pulled the ute in front of him and slammed on his brakes, he said.

The cyclist was unable to stop in time.

"I ended up splattered on the pavement.''

He sustained a bruised elbow.

A police spokeswoman said inquiries were continuing.

To which road rage incident is the cyclist wanting witnesses? The original incident where the cyclist admits hitting the car or the second incident where the cyclist alleges the driver pulled in front of him and slammed on the brakes?
