Contractor sought for ‘essential slip repair works’

The bill after last October’s floods is set to mount further as the call goes out for conductors to repair seven slips across Dunedin.

The Dunedin City Council is seeking a contractor to carry out "essential slip repair works" at seven sites following last year’s heavy rain.

The request for tender was released two weeks ago and the contract is expected to be awarded in August.

Work had to be completed by April 30 next year, the tender document said.

The council was seeking contractors experienced in gabion basket and pole retaining wall construction.

In February, councillors were told transport-related costs sat at $7.82 million and a claim had been submitted to NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi for co-funding consideration.

The sites for urgent repairs are Castlewood Rd, Taieri Mouth Rd, Harington Point Rd, Blueskin Rd, Emerson St, Highcliff Rd and Wickcliffe Tce, Port Chalmers. —APL
