A decision on the fate of the former Dunedin art public gallery is expected to be made next week.
Dunedin City Council community and recreation services manager Mick Reece said the council was "still waiting for the consent" from commissioners Allan Cubitt (chairman), David Benson-Pope and Cr Colin Weatherall.
"It is up to them."
The Otago Daily Times understands the commissioners will meet next week to make their decision on the building, which was home to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery until 1997.
The commissioners earlier requested additional information on how the building would look if the three bays earmarked for demolition were removed.
If the buildings were demolished, it would allow expansion of the University Oval to proceed.
The New Zealand Historic Places Trust supported the council's resource consent application as long as the council placed a covenant to protect the remainder of the building.
The Otago Rugby Football Union this week moved from its Logan Park training base in the former art gallery to a nearby prefabricated building it last occupied in 2007.
