Otago made an easy switchover to digital television at the weekend.
An estimated 96% of Otago households had digital-compliant television sets when the analogue network signal ceased at 2am on Sunday.
''It's all gone very smoothly, from our point of view,'' Going Digital national manager Greg Harford said yesterday.
''No-one was caught by surprise and it went really well. We had a two-and-a-half-year campaign in the Otago community, so most people were certainly well aware of it,'' Mr Harford said.
''Now, we've got to start work on the North Island.''
The West Coast and Hawkes Bay went digital last September, followed by the rest of the South Island on Sunday. The lower North Island and East Cape will make the move on September 20 and the upper North Island on December 1.
