Police say they found a "significant" quantity of cannabis, cannabis utensils, a .22 rifle and an ASP baton inside a car they stopped in Prince Albert Rd, South Dunedin, on Saturday night.
Sergeant Ed Baker, from Dunedin, said the 32-year-old driver faced multiple cannabis and weapons related charges as a result.
The baton, similar to police-issue batons, was a restricted weapon, he said.
• A 16-year-old female has been referred to youth aid after the burglary of a Mosgiel dairy yesterday.
Police allege the girl broke in to Andy's Milk Bar in Gordon Rd and took four packets of Kronic.
• Police are following a "strong line of inquiry" after a window was smashed at the Barkers store in George St, Dunedin.
Sgt Baker said the incident was reported by city safety officers at 1.15am on Sunday.
• A man has been charged with disorderly behaviour after allegedly jumping into a police car while officers were dealing with a fight outside a Dunedin bar on Sunday morning.
Sgt Baker said the officers were dealing with about six people fighting when the man jumped into the vehicle and started "acting the fool".
• A man who allegedly urinated in a car park at the Dunedin Central Police Station has been charged with offensive behaviour. The man was apprehended by watchhouse staff after they were alerted by a passing taxi driver.
• A 31-year-old woman faces drink-driving charges after being stopped by police after leaving the Taieri Rugby Football Club in Mosgiel at 2am on Sunday.
Sgt Baker said the woman recorded a breath-alcohol level of 651mcg.
• Cash, several iPods, cameras and other items were taken from a Harbour Tce flat in Dunedin at the weekend. The student flat was unlocked and the burglar was able to enter and search two rooms.
• A Dunedin motorist faces multiple charges after allegedly crossing the centre line in front of a police patrol car in Forbury Rd on Sunday morning.
Police pulled the woman over, to find she was talking on her cellphone, Sgt Baker said. She allegedly had a breath-alcohol level of 790mcg.
• Two students who streaked at the Knox v Selwyn rugby game at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin last Friday have been given a pre-charge warning.
Sergeant Chris McLellan said the University of Otago students, aged 19 and 21, would also be referred to the university's proctor for disciplinary action.
• A 19-year-old woman remains in Dunedin Hospital after a car crash near Dunback on Sunday. A police spokesman said the car the woman was in appeared to have lost control in grit and struck a barrier on the Dunback-Morrisons Rd about 6.20pm. She was flown to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries.
An update on her condition was unavailable yesterday.
