The Dunedin Public Art Gallery was the joint winner of the exhibition category at the 2012 New Zealand Museum Awards held in Wellington on Thursday night.
The judging panel said the exhibition "Still Life: The Art of Anatomy" was "beautifully realised".
"Still Life brings together two traditions and two long-established institutions - Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Otago University's Medical School," the judges said.
"The exhibition pays due respect to both, offering a clever interplay of science and art. It is intriguing, luscious, instructive and thoughtful; with excellent content, beautifully realised".
It jointly won the category with the Christchurch Art Gallery's "De-Building" exhibition, which was planned before the September 2010 earthquake and then responded to the event.
