Only limited tickets are left after strong pre-sales for the coming Springbok test, Dunedin Venues chief executive Terry Davies says.

On the first day of public sales yesterday tickets were moving quickly for the September All Blacks test in Dunedin, Mr Davies said.

Although he could not give numbers, the bulk of nearly 29,000 tickets had already sold through pre-sales last week, he said.

Mr Davies declined to predict when the event would sell out, but he expected it to.

"If you want to go, get in quick," he said.

"The best seats have gone.

"Sales have been really strong.

"It’s definitely a popular event and it’s a hot ticket."

The 100th test between South Africa and the All Blacks will be played at Forsyth Barr Stadium on September 25.

The date will also mark 100 years since the Springboks and the All Blacks first played a test, which was also played in Dunedin, at Carisbrook. The test is considered a coup for the city, as it is the first test between the two top nations since 2019, when South Africa won the World Cup.

At the weekend, a crowd of 15,103 watched the All Blacks defeat Fiji 57-23 at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
