Fire severely damages Fairfield house

An elderly couple was treated by St John Ambulance officers after their home was extensively damaged by fire this morning.

The fire, which was mostly out by 8.45am, tore through the house in Estuary Cres in Fairfield this morning.

The smoke could be seen across large parts of southern Dunedin.
