Firm got $40,000 to replace Davies

The recruitment company searching for David Davies' replacement at Dunedin Venues Management Ltd was paid $40,500 for its work, new figures confirm.

The fee to Optima Global Talent, represented the bulk of the $51,307.45 bill for the recruitment drive paid for by DVML.

The search concluded with last month's appointment of DVML operations director Darren Burden as chief executive, but only after 109 candidates - 90 of them from outside New Zealand - were sifted through.

DVML chairman Sir John Hansen first released details of the overall bill to the Otago Daily Times earlier this month.

However, he declined to release a breakdown of DVML's bill at the time, despite an ODT request for one made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

Yesterday, following a request from a member of the public, the company released a breakdown.

It showed DVML paid $40,500 for the recruitment service, as well as $3577.65 for advertising, $537.52 for federal and criminal checks and $6692.28 in GST.

Mr Burden was in Wellington and not available for comment yesterday, a DVML spokeswoman said.
