The Dunedin City Council will make an announcement in about two weeks on a replacement for former Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Otago Settlers Museum director Priscilla Pitts.

Ms Pitts resigned in June last year and there was a review of the position, but when asked for an update, council chief executive Jim Harland would not say what the result was.

Other council positions also appear set for change.

Mr Harland said only one person would replace the jobs of former council architect Robert Tongue, who left this year after 20 years with the local authority, and planning policy manager Anne Cheng, who was officially farewelled last December for a new job with the Papakura District Council after two and a-half years in Dunedin.

Mr Harland said a person with the skills for both jobs would be needed, who would work in a "two teams, one manager" situation.

A shortlist of candidates had been put together.

The council intended to readvertise for former property manager Dave McKenzie's position, after a preferred candidate was not found.

Mr McKenzie left late last year to take up a position as general manager of Zelko New Zealand Ltd in Alexandra.

Council financial controller Les Weir, who left after eight years with the council to take up the position of finance and administration manager at Mercy Hospital at the start of February, has been replaced by council financial analyst Maree Clarke.

The council has also advertised for a transportation operations manager after Mike Costelloe, who joined in 2006, decided to take a position in Melbourne.

Asked if he was concerned about the level of employee turnover, Mr Harland it was lower than other New Zealand local authorities.
