A fundraising variety concert is expected to raise about $30,000 for the campaign to revitalise the Regent Theatre.
By yesterday afternoon, more than 1200 seats had been sold for the The Star Regent Variety Concert tomorrow.
The theatre was 70% booked with two days of ticket sales left, theatre manager Sarah Anderson said.
All proceeds will go to the Regent Theatre Trust's $2 million contribution towards the $6.8 million theatre redevelopment, Ms Anderson said.
Twenty-two acts were confirmed in the "eclectic" show, with a piper, highland dancers, comedy ballet, classical and rock performers all sharing the same stage.
All acts had volunteered their time to raise money for the redevelopment.
"The response has just been amazing, not just to the show, but to the fundraising we've been doing and the fundraising we have planned.
"The theatre has always run with the help of its community, and it has happened again."
The concert is the latest in a series of fundraisers to help the trust raise its share of the upgrade.
The Dunedin City Council has already guaranteed almost $4.8 million to the project, after deciding last month that the trust looked likely to reach its funding target.
Ms Anderson said the trust had raised $1,678,535 by the middle of the week. At least another $25,000 raised from other sources will soon be added to the total.
