Actors and crew celebrated the opening of the Dunedin Fringe Festival Opening Night Showcase at the Regent Theatre in Dunedin last night.

The showcase opened with Dunedin actors Charlotte McKay and Harriet Moir singing among the large audience about males in the cabaret song Moving Right Along from the comedy The Reinvention of Us.

Dunedin actors Sarah McDougall and Elsa May then performed a saucy song from the comedy Slutty Ladies Garden Party.

Festival director Josh Thomas congratulated the audience for seeing 28 acts in two hours last night.

‘‘It's the perfect way to get a taste of everything that Fringe has to offer - and there's a lot on offer. For the next 11 days there are 70 events packed into venues theatres, alleyways, parks and gardens of Otepoti.''
