A Pink Ribbon Fun Run and Walk to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness of the disease attracted 75 runners and walkers of all ages at Palmerston yesterday.

They had a choice of three courses, including the East Otago High School grounds, a slightly longer course and a 2km road course from Palmerston along Horse Range Rd, Factory Rd and Stour St back to the high school.

The "Health and Fitness" theme this year was a good opportunity to introduce the new event, one of the organisers Heather McGregor, of Palmerston, said.

A Pink Ribbon morning tea will also be held in the upstairs room at the Palmerston Four Square supermarket this Friday at 10am to raise funds.

The guest speaker will be Katrina McAra, of KM Personal Training, who will talk about health, fitness and nutrition.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
