Arborists work to clear a stand of trees between the second and third greens at the Balmacewen Golf Course in Dunedin yesterday.
Eco Tree Care manager Sean Hancock said his team had been working on the 11 pines since Monday and had two and-a-half trees left to remove by last night. He expected they would have the area cleared by Monday.
The trees were being removed in pieces to avoid harming fairways.
The ''very old'' pines were up to 50m high and were being removed because they had started dropping branches, which was a safety issue, Mr Hancock said
