The stars are aligning for a comedian in his quest to be taken to bed by presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

The Bible states the meek will inherit the earth but all comedian Arthur Meek wants is to be taken as the young lover of the Democratic candidate.

In the comedy On The Conditions and Possibilities of Hillary Clinton Taking Me As Her Young Lover, Meek's alter ego, Richard Meros, tries to prove that if Mrs Clinton took him as her young lover, she would win the race to the White House.

Clinton needs a young lover and Meros, an ''over-educated and underachieving New Zealander'', is the only candidate.

The show was designed to convince Mrs Clinton.

''It's statistically proven that presidents who had young lovers have approval ratings 10 points higher than those who didn't - we are talking Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton, some of the most popular presidents of all time.''

The show featured at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August and was recently given a five-star rating by the festival organisers.

Meek and co-writer Geoff Pinfield dreamed up the idea during an 18-month residency in New York before Mrs Clinton announced she would be running for the presidency.

The writers successfully pitched the idea to management at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in New York last year and Mrs Clinton announced her candidacy during its first season.

Meek was honoured by a review in New York magazine that called the show ''demented''.

''From there, the offers have been rolling in from around the world.''

He has performed the show about 80 times across New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, including at a Democratic Party fundraiser.

Despite the word not reaching Mrs Clinton yet, he remains hopeful she will come to Dunedin to obtain her lover and ensure an election win.

The former University of Otago student was not shaken by Donald Trump's recent speech casting doubts on Clinton's marital fidelity and the possibility she might have already taken a lover.

''Donald is on to something; he is just a little bit off on the who.''

On The Conditions and Possibilities of Hillary Clinton Taking Me As Her Young Lover is on at the Playhouse Theatre tonight and Saturday at 10pm.
