Both the Jazz Band and the Jazz Combo won gold awards for their performances, and the latter was also named best jazz combo in the competition.
Logan Park High School pupil Erica Stedman (17) also won the best jazz singer award, and fellow pupil George Maclaurin (17) won the best pianist and best musician of the festival awards.
George said the band was delighted with the results.
"It’s great. We’re really stoked.
"We’re really surprised as well, because the Jazz Band has only been to the competition once before, which was last year, and we got a silver award."
He said the band had been working hard and were delighted they had been able to take another step up.
Erica and George said their individual awards had also been very satisfying, but not as satisfying as receiving the award for best jazz combo.
"That was better, because it felt more like a team effort," George said.
"But I feel honoured to have received the best musician award."
A number of the musicians in the Logan Park High School ensemble plan to study jazz at university next year.
