A touch-screen information station that focuses on the history of the museum's various buildings was installed last week.
Visitor experience manager Kirsty Glengarry said there had been many requests from visitors who were ``curious about the history'' of the museum buildings.
And it was ``fabulous'' to have the information station in place in the former bus station foyer to outline that history, she said.
Museum curator Peter Read compiled the information, which traces the growth of the museum from its beginnings with two J.A. Burnside-designed buildings, the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and the Otago Early Settlers Association, opened in 1907 and 1908 respectively.
The interactive device displays about 50 photographs of nine areas of the museum, and other images trace the development of the nearby Dunedin Chinese Garden.
