The Ride of Respect charity ride started at the Montecillo Veterans Home and Hospital on Saturday, where 60 bikers continued south to raise funds for the Tapanui Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association (RSA).
The annual event was organised by the Deep South chapter of the Patriots motorcycle club, a club for current and ex members of the New Zealand Defence Force.
Deep South club president Phil Herriott said the bikers rode from the veterans home to the Invercargill Motorcycle Mecca to view an Anzac display set up there.
The riders then circled back to Gore for dinner at the Gore RSA.
Yesterday, the riders attended a Dawn Service before finishing at Tapanui.
Numbers were down on the final leg due to torrential rain and 2degC temperatures, Mr Herriott said.
But those who braved the conditions escorted World War 2 veteran Bill Raulston, who would turn 100 later this month, to the commemoration.
The ride raised $1600 for the West Otago RSA, he said.
Raffles were also sold to help fundraise.
Ride of Respect event were held across the country by different chapters of The Patriots and had been running for seven years.
