Person forced to ring for help after jewellery gets stuck

Fire Emergency New Zealand paid a visit to St Kilda this evening to remove a particularly tight piece of jewellery.

A FENZ spokesman said emergency services were called about 6.40pm after reports someone had a ring stuck on their finger.

Every fire truck was fitted with a ring-cutter, but the equipment was not used very frequently, only three or four times a year, he said.

It was unknown how the ring had become stuck. FENZ were still at the scene about 7pm.
