Plain text for brochure

An interim "plain text" logo for the redeveloped Toitu Otago Settlers Museum is likely to appear in a cruise ship brochure later this year in lieu of a decision on a final design.

Since the Dunedin City Council had until about October before a definitive logo was required, it might be several months before one was finalised, council marketing manager Graham McKerracher said.

Despite several designs being considered by the museum board, none had been agreed by yesterday, and the deadline for inclusion in the brochure was next Wednesday.

The council wanted to be included in the brochure, so a plain text logo would be submitted, Mr McKerracher said.

So far, about seven logo designs had been prepared by a mixture of staff and outside designers for consultation with "key stakeholders", including the museum's board, the Otago Settlers Association and the mayor, he said.

The new logo would appear on stationery, advertising and websites.
