Sightings of car reported to police

A teal-coloured hatchback driven by a man who allegedly approached a girl at Outram on Monday is believed to have been sighted elsewhere in Dunedin.

Sergeant Kevin Davidson, of Mosgiel, said he had taken several calls since appealing for information on a man who asked a girl to get into his car on George King Memorial Dr about 3.40pm.

The girl refused, rode off on her bike and was ''left shaken'' by the incident.

Since appealing for information, police had received reports of suspicious behaviour involving a teal-coloured hatchback at Outram Glen, East Taieri and Corstorphine in the past week.

Police had not established if the car seen was the same one driven by the man at Outram.

The small hatchback was described as being more green than blue, Sgt Davidson said.

The girl described the man as aged in his 40s or 50s, balding with short hair, a beard and tattoos on his arms.

Police were concerned about the man's behaviour.
