Dunedin North Intermediate pupils (from left) Mirana Dalinas, 12, Huia Cumming-Smyth, 12, Izzy Scott, 13, Daphne Middlemass, 13, Reina Wilkinson, 12, carry their Amazing Race team-mate Xhyra Calog, 13, outside the Dunedin Ice Stadium yesterday. Teacher-in-charge Elizabeth Rudd said the school’s amazing race was a part of its summer electives programme which some of the students chose to take part in instead of going to camp.

The week-long event required 12 teams to use their creativity and problem-solving skills to complete the race.

During yesterday’s leg of the race the pupils went to the Clip 'n Climb Dunedin, the new South Dunedin Community Library, Marlow Park and the Dunedin Ice Stadium.
