Mr Scott, who was promoted from exhibition officer to his current post last year, said the trip to the capitals of Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway had proved ''absolutely awesome''.
He had visited more than 30 museums and art galleries, including an Abba museum in Stockholm, which was linked to the Swedish Music Hall of Fame and where each of the band's four members was represented by a projected hologram.
He turned 25 during the ''extremely useful'' July trip, and took about 4000 digital photographs. Funded through an internal museum contestable scholarship, amounting to about $3500, the trip proved influential, and not only in terms of new design ideas.
He was also impressed by the strong focus on sustainability in Scandinavia, including extensive use of bicycles in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, and waste minimisation in Sweden.
