An inmate at the Otago prison in Milton was seriously assaulted Sunday afternoon, police say.
Police were called to the Otago Corrections Facility about 1.15pm after an altercation between two inmates, a police spokeswoman said.
One person was reported to be seriously injured.
The police’s criminal investigation branch is investigating.
