Sets of keys taken from car wreckers

Police are investigating the burglary of a car wreckers in Kaikorai Valley earlier this week.

The burglar gained access to the building in Eclipse Rd through a rear door on Monday night, Senior Sergeant Liz Waru, of Dunedin, said.

Several sets of keys for cars the business offered for sale were taken and the burglar had interfered with the building's CCTV system and taken its digital video recorder, she said.

A safe containing between $40 and $60 had also been stolen.

None of the cars had been interfered with or taken and police were unsure of the burglar's motivation in taking the keys, she said.

The company would ''beef up'' security of its premises as police investigate the burglary.
