Farmers are looking forward to showcasing the agricultural sector to urban folk at the Taieri A&P Society’s show day today.

Event executive committee member John Freeland said the show was an opportunity for the urban community to connect with the agricultural sector.

"The focus of the society is to have a good day and try to show the urban folk as much as we can of what happens on farm."

Mr Freeland said the public were expected to flock in about 10am today in time for the show’s main attraction, musician Craig Smith "The Wonky Donkey Man", at 11am.

The family-orientated event would go on until about 4pm and would include attractions such as free laser tag, a truck show and a show from magician Jonathan Usher.

The event would also include an Otago Axemen’s Competition, a digger competition and a shearing display.

The Grand Parade starts about 2.30pm.

Mr Freeland said thousands of people were expected to attend.

It is free for children under 5 to enter, $5 for children over 5, $10 for adults and $25 for a family.

Parking will be available on site.
