South's new speed cameras switched on next week

Five new speed cameras will be switched on in Otago and Southland next week, including three in Dunedin, police say.

The cameras will sit beside Dunedin’s Southern Motorway at Burnside, King Edward St in South Dunedin, Maclaggan St in central Dunedin, Wansbeck St in Oamaru and Otatara Rd in Invercargill.

Plans for the new cameras were announced last year, as part of a wider $10 million expansion of the police static camera programme which began in July 2013.

Comments

Speed cameras for informing speedsters brings wisdom and improvement. Speed cameras for fines and condemnation aggravates the speeding issue further.

Curios mate , speeding fines are voluntary , the camera locations aren't a secret, they're not hidden , if you speed past them you're asking to be fined . Plus the fact it's Illegal, I've voluntaired for several fines over the years how stupid would it be if I then complained as you're doing?
