Stadium meeting for Port Chalmers

Port Chalmers will have its own Dunedin Stadium meeting this Sunday, and the area's city council representative, Cr Andrew Noone, has agreed to attend and explain his position on the project.

The meeting, at Port Chalmers Town Hall, has been organised by residents Tenoch King and Anne Marie Parsons to discuss the community's concerns on the issue.

Ms King said she disagreed with Cr Noone's stance on the stadium - he has consistently voted to support it - and had challenged him to have a meeting in the district.

The meeting was "not about for or against", but to discuss an issue that affected everybody in the area.

Many felt they were not being listened to, she said, and Cr Noone needed to know what his constituents wanted so he could represent them.

Cr Noone said he planned to explain his position, listen to the views of people attending, and respond as best he could.

"I'm not there to change their minds."

The meeting starts at 5pm.
