Actors dressed as protesters and police prepare to clash in Dunedin on Saturday during the filming of the movie One Winter — a dramatisation of the 1981 Springbok Tour.

Filming took place on Bond St, between Police St and Liverpool St.

Hundreds of people dressed in clothing from the 1980s, from standard street-wear to clown costumes and police riot gear filled the street. Some extras held signage adorned with the words "STOP THE TOUR" and other slogans seen during the 1981 protests across the country.

The actors were surrounded by old police cars and beige buses that helped set the scene for the clash.

Several city centre streets, including a section of Princes St, will be temporarily closed for filming at times throughout this month.
