A Southern District Health Board committee today will discuss, behind closed doors, changes to home-based support for older people.
Feedback on a proposal to exit contracts with 17 providers will be discussed at the DHB's disability support advisory meeting in Invercargill.
The DHB wants to introduce a "restorative" model, delivered by a few big providers covering all of Otago and Southland.
The proposal has sparked concerns from rural health trusts, which will lose contracts allowing them to serve their community.
The DHB has cited commercial sensitivity for discussing the changes in the public-excluded section of the meeting.
The outcome of today's meeting will be discussed at tomorrow's full DHB meeting, also in the public-excluded section.
In a report to the committee, health of older people portfolio manager Leanne Illingworth said feedback from the consultation process, and a recommendation, would be considered by committee members.
"Once key providers have been notified of the outcome of any decision, the documents will then be publicly available."
