Celebrity chef Al Brown will be revealing some seafood secrets at this year's Port Chalmers Seafood Festival.

The Wellington-based television chef and author will be dishing up stories and a signature seafood dish at the second annual festival, on September 21.

"Having Al and his team with us for the day is going to be ideal, as he will bring his own flavour to the event,'' Port Chalmers Seafood Festival committee chairwoman Chanel Gardner said yesterday.

"We are really looking forward to showing him and his team the fabulous seafood unique to this region.''

Thirty food stalls, most with a seafood theme, and local wineries and breweries had registered for the festival, she said.

Entertainment will include Don McGlashan and The Eastern, as well as family activities and competitions.

The Taieri Gorge Train and shuttle buses will be travelling between the Dunedin Railway Station and Port Chalmers during the day.

The festival will run from 11am to 5pm in the Beach St "A'' sheds.
