A van allegedly stolen from Invercargill on Monday and used by teenagers in a crime spree was found burnt out in Dunedin yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Chris George, of Dunedin, said police received complaints about the way the white and blue Toyota was being driven in the Clyde Hill area about 1am.
When they responded, the van was found alight in Bridge St.
It is believed to be the same van which five teenagers - a 14-year-old girl and boys aged 16 and 17 - allegedly stole and used for a crime spree.
The teenagers are also alleged to have stolen a utility vehicle from a rural property near Gore.
Two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old were arrested in Milton when the ute was pulled over yesterday afternoon, but the pair travelling in the van - a 17-year-old and the 14-year-old - remained at large.
The three apprehended face charges including possessing cannabis utensils, theft, driving while disqualified and unlawfully taking vehicles, and will appear in court next month.
Any earlier sightings of the van, registration ERE697, could be reported to Dunedin police (03) 471-4800.
• A car fire in a Mosgiel driveway early yesterday is being investigated as suspicious.
Snr Sgt George said police were called about 12.30am to a car on fire at a Bush Rd address.
It appears the fire was started near the left rear wheel and police "will be investigating to ascertain if it's a suspicious fire or not".
