Dunedin Labour MPs believe their party's rise in poll results is a sign the election is ''ramping up'' but both politicians are vowing to continue to work for every vote.

Dunedin South MP Clare Curran said Labour's rise from 24.1% to 33.1% in the latest Newshub-Reid Research poll was ''fantastic''.

''There is momentum, which is growing.''

When asked how Labour would cut into National's 44.4% poll result she replied: ''There is a lot of work to do.''

''The election is now ramping up and we are really focused on the issues that matter.''

Those issues included clean water, Dunedin Hospital, education, health, homelessness and housing, she said.

Dunedin North MP David Clark said the increase in the polls was ''a healthy step in the right direction''.

''We are going to be campaigning hard because we want to lead the next government...but there is more work to do,'' Dr Clark said.
