Baby girl in hospital after fall

A month-old baby girl was flown to hospital overnight after a fall on her head at her Tasman District home.

The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was called to the home between Collingwood and Takaka about 1.20am, pilot Flint Horn said.

The baby was doing well, after falling about a metre, he said.

"The baby was breathing okay on the way to hospital."

He said the trip to hospital was probably "precautionary".

A Nelson Hospital spokeswoman said the little girl was still in hospital and in a stable condition.
