Bail for Dotcom co-accused

Kim Dotcom's co-accused Finn Batato has been bailed.

Batato, a German, was in New Zealand to attend the Megaupload millionaire's 38th birthday when he was arrested along with three others: Dotcom, Bram van der Kolk and Mathias Ortmann.

All are accused of internet piracy and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking to extradite them to the United States to face charges of conspiring to commit racketeering, conspiring to commit money laundering, copyright infringement, and aiding and abetting copyright infringement over the internet through the website Megaupload.

Batato had been granted electronic bail two weeks ago but it could not be implemented until today, when he was bailed to van der Kolk's Orakei home.

Van der Kolk was bailed last week, while Dotcom, also known as Kim Schmitz, and Ortmann remain behind bars.
