Antony de Malmanche (left) is serving a 15-year sentence.
Antony de Malmanche was jailed after earlier this year being found guilty of drug offences.
The Wanganui man, found with 1.7kg of methamphetamine in his backpack at Denpasar International Airport in December last year, could have faced the death penalty.
De Malmanche claimed he was duped and did not know the drugs were there.
It has now emerged that he could have three months shaved off his time in jail as Indonesia reduces sentences for well behaved inmates, part of its Independence Day celebrations.
According to media reports, Kerobokan Prison governor Sudjonggo said de Malmanche's name was put forward for a reduction.
"While he's not eligible for the decade remission, he's suggested for three months off."
