The bodies of all 11 victims of Saturday's fatal Carterton hot air balloon crash have now been taken away from the scene.
Wairarapa Area Commander, Inspector Brent Register, said the last four bodies were removed late this afternoon.
"A scene examination in Somerset Road will continue over the coming days. The Disaster Victim Identification process is underway and will take some time to complete.''
The police are working at the direction of the Coroner and in conjunction with the Transport Accident Investigation Commission team, and the Commission will determine the causes of the accident.
Inspector Register said police and other agencies met with families again this morning to keep them informed on investigations currently underway.
"Our thoughts continue to be with the families ... We will continue to support these families as best we can over the coming days, weeks and months.''
