Chch police chase ends in crash

A police chase ended with a car hitting a building and four people hospitalised, in Christchurch this evening.

Police southern communications supervisor Hemi Waretini said police were pursuing a stolen vehicle before the crash took place.

He said they had abandoned the pursuit when the car crossed to the wrong side of the ride and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Tuam and Durham Streets about 7.30pm.

One of the cars "went into a building", but police were not able to say which of the cars this was.

Four people were taken to Christchurch Hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to serious, a St John ambulance spokesman said.
