One person is dead following a head-on crash on State Highway 1 near Kuriwao, about 5km north of Clinton, this afternoon.
The crash, which happened about 1.20pm, involved a Toyota RAV and a sedan.
The 82-year-old man who died in the crash was a front-seat passenger in the sedan. Its driver was taken to Dunedin Hospital.
Three of the four people travelling in the Toyota RAV received moderate to serious injuries. Two were taken to Dunedin Hospital and one to Clutha Health First hospital.
Its driver was uninjured.
The road is closed and detours are in place. It is expected to reopen this evening.
