A truck driver has died after a crash in Waikato last night.
The incident happened on No 1 Road, at Waitoa, about 7.30pm, Senior Sergeant Rupert Friend of the Waikato District Command Centre said.
The driver of the truck died at the scene.
It was not yet known what caused the crash, but the Waikato Serious Crash Unit are investigating, Mr Friend said.
"The weather this weekend is wet and very windy and this has led to more crashes across the Waikato than dry calm conditions.
"Drivers are all urged to drive to the conditions and allow extra following distance," he said.
"If the driver in front of you makes a mistake or a tree falls across the road you need to ensure you have time to stop and keep clear of any incident."
