Emergency services have been called to Whangārei Airport following a light plane crash.
RNZ understands the plane's nose wheel failed as it was landing this morning, but the pilot was uninjured.
He has been checked by ambulance staff.
The light plane has stopped off the runway but the airport, in the harbourside suburb of Onerahi, was expected to remain closed for a few hours.
Police, fire crews from Whangārei and Onerahi, and ambulance staff from St John attended.
