A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition after falling nine storeys at a central Auckland construction site.
The man was taken to Auckland Hospital after the fall at the new AUT building on Mayoral Drive about 1pm today.
It is understood he had worked at the site for about a month.
The man had been working on 12th floor and fell to the third floor, where he landed by a skip with a lot of metal and scaffolding around.
People who had been working with the man were "quite shocked", according to a family member of one building site worker
About 300 workers at the site were called to a meeting about 2pm and asked to give details of where they were and what they had witnessed before being sent home for the rest of the day.
Police and the Department of Labour are investigating.
