Police say there is no evidence a man who worked as a police officer shortly after buying methamphetamine from a dealer working out of Auckland's Sky City Casino was passing on information to his colleagues.
Chee Kent Tan bought 420g of methamphetamine in August 2006 from a syndicate run by Tac Kin Voong from the casino.
He applied to become a policeman a month later and became a probationary constable in October 2006, giving him temporary sworn powers, the Weekend Herald reported.
Tan was arrested six months later and charged for two drug purchases made in August 2006.
He was then suspended on full pay until he was found guilty of supplying methamphetamine in May this year.
There was no evidence to suggest Tan leaked any information while he was working for police, Counties Manukau police spokeswoman Ana-Mari Gates-Bowey said.
Tan was jailed for seven years by Justice Patrick Keane in the High Court in Auckland this week.
Voong was jailed for 18 years after being found guilty of supplying 1.3kg of methamphetamine and 10,000 ecstasy tablets.
Three others received jail sentences of between five and 15 years.
