One person is dead and a man is seriously injured following a two-car crash on State Highway 4, Manunui near Taumarunui early this morning.
Police said the crash occurred about 3am, south of where SH4 and SH41 intersect.
Neither vehicle was carrying passengers and one - that of the deceased - was found down a bank.
The injured man was taken to Taumarunui Hospital.
Traffic diversions were expected to be removed later this morning after serious crash investigators completed a scene examination.
