A person is dead after their vehicle crashed into a power pole near Invercargill today.
The crash happened about 1.50pm, on the Woodlands-Invercargill highway near Kennington Roslyn Bush Rd.
A police media spokeswoman said a vehicle had hit a power pole and was the only vehicle involved.
The road was closed and diversions were in place, police said in a statement.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible.
